Location
Belize is located in Central America on the western edge of the Caribbean, immediately south of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Formerly called British Honduras, it is the only English-speaking country in Central America. Its British Colonial-era legacy is reflected in the exquisitely charming 19th Century architecture of Belize City and a solid, democratic society based on British commonlaw. In fact, it is still a member of the British Commonwealth of Nations, whose head of state is none other than Queen Elizabeth II of England.
About Belize
Belizeans are a true melting pot of cultures: Mayan Indians (the original inhabitants), Hispanic, Creole, Garifuna, European and more recently, Asian. Easy mixing of ethnic backgrounds is common and everyone refers to themselves as 'Belizean', regardless of ethnicity. It all makes for a very friendly, open people.

Scuba Diving Certification with Isla Marisol PADI dive resort.
DISCOVER SCUBA/ RESORT COURSE $150 1/2 Day
We have a full range of dive courses taught right on the island. One-half day introduction to scuba; allows non-divers to dive for the rest of the week at the same rate as certified divers. Does not transfer to other resorts. If you upgrade within one year to a higher level, this course may count toward your certification.
*Group discount for Discover Scuba: Three or more persons taking the course at the same time drops the cost to $110.
Bubblemaker $125 1/2 Day
One-half day introduction to scuba for kids ages 8-11. This age group is restricted to a 6-foot depth and must be accompanied at all times by a dive instructor.
PADI SCUBA DIVER $350 2 1/2 Days
This is the lowest level of certification that PADI offers. It is a lifetime certification, but has some limitations. You can dive anywhere, but you must be accompanied by a Dive Master, and there is a recommended maximum depth limit of forty feet. Many people don't want to dive without a Dive Master present anyway, so it may not be a problem. If you want to rent tanks and dive on your own, you should go for the Open Water certification rather than PADI Scuba Diver. Students have the option to upgrade this certification to Full Open Water certification within one year of completion of the course. The course takes less time than the Full Open Water, and is a great option for those who want a certification, but intend to dive only at resorts where Dive Masters accompany all divers. Includes $25 for PADI Pic Card.
* Includes $25 for PADI Pic Card
PADI Scuba Diver Referral $220 1 Day

The course includes classroom work, confined water training (demonstrating a mastery of skills in shallow water), and four open water dives. As a certified Open Water Diver you have the freedom to dive without a Dive Master present.

It's easy to learn scuba diving in Belize!
As a PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) facility, we offer all PADI training courses, from Open Water Certification to Divemaster. One of our most popular programs is the PADI Discover Scuba Diving, or IntroductoryResort Course. This offers non-divers the truly exciting first time experience of scuba diving in a safe but beautiful environment. Many of our guests who have experienced this have gone on to complete the full Open Water Course. If you have ever wondered what it would be like to swim with the fishes, this is the opportunity of a lifetime!
Many guests prefer to take the classroom portion of their dive training in their local area before coming to the resort, and then complete the in-the-water portion at the resort. This gives the advantage of leaving you more time to spend diving Belize's legendary reefs as a certified diver. The water certification portion of the course usually takes only two days. This is called a Referral Course.
Divers who haven't been diving for a while often want to take a brief Refresher Course. One of our resident divemasters will brief you on proper diving safety and procedures and do some simple, shallow dives with you on a one-on-one basis to make sure you remember all of your previous training and build your confidence.
The Open Water I Certification is the main course for becoming a diver. It typically lasts four days and consists of about two days of classroom-style learning, covering all aspects of the physics of diving and equipment, plus two days of hands-on learning, becoming acquainted with the scuba gear in the water and doing simple dives.
Our Open Water II Certification provides advanced open water learning to further your diving enjoyment and safety. This is a recommended, but strictly optional course and is typically taken after 20 or more dives, giving you time to become totally comfortable underwater on routine dives.
Most necessary gear can be rented at a reasonable cost during your stay at our dive shop. Please advise us when making your reservation if you will require any of the above coursework or equipment rental so that we will have everything you require upon your arrival at the resort.
Prices for the rental and coursework can be found on our Rates page.
