Turneffe Atoll is the closest to the mainland of the three atolls in Belize. Located 15 miles east of Belize City, the Turneffe Islands surround the largest atoll. Unlike the outer atolls, Turneffe is unique. It is not a ringlet of sandy islets like Lighthouse Reef and Glover's Atoll, but is instead nearly covered with thick green mangrove and a shallow lagoon. The huge juvenile nursery in the lagoon mangroves, shallows and mangrove lined coastal mainland provides a continuous flow of marine species in sizable numbers. Turneffe features world class dives such as the Elbow, off the extreme southern tip of the atoll.
Turneffe Atoll offers true world class diving -- the visibility often ranges from 100 to 150 feet. The diving sites are considered some of the best in the Western Caribbean. Turneffe Atoll is the only Caribbean Atoll made up of dozens of mangrove islands which are the juvenile nurseries for coral reefs and also means many schools of fish.
Each day begins with an early breakfast, followed by two single tank morning dives and a single tank afternoon dive. Except for the Blue Hole Day & the Elbow dive, we return to shore between each dive. Our captain pilots the boat to you upon your ascent so there is no tiring swim back to the boat. Our divemasters rinse your gear each evening and sets it up for you after breakfast. No need to worry about it once you arrive on the island. There are 14 local dive sites with an average time of 12 minutes to reach them.
Some of the popular dive spots you will see are "Calabash Cut", "West Side Story", "CoCo Point", "Al's Hideout", "Oasis". One night dive is included for the 7 night & 4 night packages. Our dive shop is equipped w/dive gear and 2 compressors. Our staff of professionally trained dive masters and instructors will make every effort to fulfill your diving preferences.

Turneffe Island Resort offers each guest 15-17 dives per week. Each of the 15 dive sites in the area showcases a different view of Belize's unique underworld. No two dives are ever the same.
The PADI certified dive masters will guide you through a maze of corals along the atoll's steep drop-off. Each dive lasts roughly 45 minutes after which you return to the island for meals or simply to gather your breath for the next dive.
Turneffe Island Resort is a PADI dive resort, so if you are not yet a certified diver, you will still be able to enjoy the aquatic wonderland. There is an instructor available who can certify non-divers upon request.
You will dive at some of the best dive sites on the Belize Barrier Reef: Turneffe Atoll, Lighthouse Reef, Half Moon Caye and the Belize Blue Hole. some of the best dive sites are just minutes from the resort.
The reef around the resort provides a huge range of beautiful places where surface snorkeling and dives can be made. A short boat ride takes you through the shallow turquoise waters of the reef for the darker blues of the Caribbean.
Turneffe Island Resort can provide single or double kayaks that can be paddled around the reef, as well as Hobie Cats for your personal use. The resort will ensure that you have adequate instruction and a guide if required.
Kayaks are perfect for exploring the stunning reef systems of Glover's Atoll. Paddle between the small islands that make up the eastern wall of the atoll.
Guests interested in sport fishing will not be disappointed. The bone fishing at Turneffe Island Resort is superb, and it is common to pull in up to a dozen bone fish per session.
Permit, jack, wahoo, barracuda, bonefish, tarpon, kingfish, trigger fish, grouper, rock fish and bonito also provide great action for the sea fisherman.
Choose from one of our three fishing packages: fly-fishing, blue water trolling or drop fishing.
Location
Belize is located in Central America on the western edge of the Caribbean, immediately south of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Formerly called British Honduras, it is the only English-speaking country in Central America. Its British Colonial-era legacy is reflected in the exquisitely charming 19th Century architecture of Belize City and a solid, democratic society based on British commonlaw. In fact, it is still a member of the British Commonwealth of Nations, whose head of state is none other than Queen Elizabeth II of England.
