Day 1
Arrive San Pedro, transfer to Puerto Cortes and embark Yorktown.
Day 2
Sail to Punta Gorda, a small Belizean town by the sea. Drive inland to explore the rarely-visited ancient Maya site of Lubaantun which showcases five plazas flanked by buildings and ball courts. Return to Punta Gorda to reboard Yorktown. Over lunch, sail to the Snake Cayes for swimming and snorkeling.
Day 3
LA CEIBA, Honduras
From the vibrant port city of La Ceiba explore the Pico Bonito National Park,
a magnificent and lush forested area with abundant wildlife. There will also be kayaking and white-water rafting opportunities, as well as a visit to typical Garifuna villages and a tour of the rain forest canopy.
Day 4
ROATAN ISLAND, Bay islands
The glory of Roatan is its reef that stretches for more than seventy miles, and its excellent beaches. Explore the island, including a visit to the Institute for Marine Sciences, the Roatan Museum, and the Carambola Botanical Gardens, and enjoy swimming and snorkeling at superb West Bay.
Day 5
Columbus landed here in 1502, Trujillo was founded thirteen years later, becoming one of the earliest Spanish settlements
in Central America. Explore Trujillo and some of its colonial buildings, including the 17th-century Santa Barbara Fortress, which overlooks the sea. Also, visit the Campo del Mar Nature Park, a wildlife rehabilitation center, and enjoy swimming and snorkeling at the beautiful white-sand beach that lines the park. For the more adventurous, there will be opportunities to discover the area's wildlife by exploring the Guaymoreto Lagoon, with its canopy walkway, and the Capiro-Calentura National park, on Mt. Calentura, which looms some 4,000 feet above Trujillo.
Day 6
Explore the unspoiled Cayos Cochinos (Hog Islands), thirteen tiny, lush islets that are a protected reserve and marine park. After exploring and enjoying the islands, swim and snorkel in ideal conditions.
Day 7
SANTO TOMAS DE CASTILLA, Guatemala | PUERTO CORTES, Honduras Enjoy an excursion to Quirigua, an ancient Maya center that is famous for
its superbly intricate and well-preserved stone stelae that are spread around
the Great Plaza. Spend the afternoon cruising along the coast of Guatemala and Honduras en route to Puerto Cortes, where Yorktown will spend the night docked in port.
Day 8
Disembark and transfer to the airport for return flights home.
